About

UGLY originated as an open ended curatorial exploration at the limitations of formalist production and critical endeavors. It has grown into a not for profit arts platform that organizes exhibitions, provides short term residencies for artists & curators.

They currently maintain two spaces, a storefront in the Ukrainian village neighborhood of West Town Chicago, Illinois & a larger project space in the Austin neighborhood, Chicago, Illinois.

It is currently fronted & operated by RJD (they/them). RJD founded it with Lauren Sullivan (she/hers) in early 2019.
